Over the course of three days, the Show and conference offer ample events and activities, which may be hard to find due to the expansive Show floor. To help you make a Show game plan, we’re suggesting five things you won’t want to miss.

  1. Keynote Speakers.
Succeeding in Spite of Walmart: Understanding ‘The Walmart Effect’ and Using it to Your Advantage
. Charles Fishman, award-winning investigative journalist and author of “The Wal-Mart Effect,” will address the many insights he has from years of reporting on the retail giant. His keynote speech is at 10:3o a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the NRHA Village Stage. He will lay out the surprising ways the company is changing, what those changes say about the American economy—and the hazards and opportunities they present for Walmart’s competitors.
The Road to Recovery: Key Initiatives Driving the U.S. Economy and Home Improvement Industry. Mark Herbek of the Cleveland Research Company will review the U.S. economy in his keynote at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at the NRHA Village Stage . He will provide an in-depth review of the economy and the home improvement market recovery to date, and he offer some ideas for merchandising initiatives (assortments, social media, online and more) that can help your business realize its full potential.
  2. Tailgate, Backyard & BBQ. The lively Tailgate, Backyard & BBQ section, located in the Silver Parking Lot, always provides attendees with a good time and an energetic atmosphere. Don’t miss the Tailgate Party that starts at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, and includes live entertainment, food and drinks. The event is open to all exhibitors and attendees.
  3. Information Line. Got questions? Maybe you need the location of an event or the time of an awards show, or perhaps you’re looking for the booth number for a particular exhibitor. Just call 702-943-3500 or text 203-613-0063 to get the answers you need. You can also email your questions to NHS411Hotline@reedexpo.com. Another option for finding information is using the free NHS Mobile App, which you can download today on your smartphone.
  4. Featured Product Gallery. The National Hardware Show is known as a great place to find new products, and this year’s Show will have no shortage of new areas for finding new products. This year, these areas, including New Product World, Eco-Friendly, Energy Efficient, Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Recovery and Made in USA, can all be found in one place: the Featured Product Gallery.
  5. NRHA Independent Retailer Reception. After you finish your first day on the Show floor, be sure to stop by the NRHA Village for networking. Catch up with old friends and mingle with new ones in a casual setting, which includes free drinks and appetizers. If interested in attending, please RSVP to Allison Dewitt at ADewitt@nrha.org.
