Ace Hardware Names New Board Member

Ace HardwareAce Hardware Corp. has named Karen May as a new member of the cooperative’s board of directors.

May is executive vice president and chief human resources officer of Mondelēz International Inc., which was formerly Kraft Foods Inc. She has served in a variety of executive leadership positions during her career and has finance and human resources experience.

She will be chairwoman of Ace’s audit committee and a member of its compensation and human resources committee, according to the company.

“We are pleased to welcome Karen May to the Ace Hardware board of directors,” board chairman James Ackroyd says. “Karen’s diverse business background and depth of financial accounting acumen make her an ideal addition to our board. We look forward to learning from her expertise.”

In addition to adding May as a new board member, Ace Hardware shareholders re-elected chairman James Ackroyd with Vision Ace Hardware in Florida, as well as board members David Karsten of Karsten’s Ace Hardware in Arizona and Mark Schulein of Crown Ace Hardware in California.

The Ace board of directors has nine to 12 positions, eight of which must always be filled by Ace retailers and no more than 25 percent of which can be non-Ace members, according to the company. May is a non-Ace board member.
