Kitchen Design Trends in 2015

The kitchen is the hub of the home and the gathering place for many families. For this reason, it is one of the most remodeled rooms in the house. Entertaining takes place along with family dinners and important events, which is why consumers spend so much time and money developing their dream kitchen. Having an understanding of what is popular in the kitchen and sales associates who are aware of recent trends can elevate your store and generate credibility with your customers.

The National Kitchen and Bath Association highlighted 10 kitchen features they expect to be popular in 2015. Its 2015 Kitchen and Bath Design Trends report identified that more than half of designers surveyed expect to create more contemporary kitchens in 2015, followed by transitional kitchens. Below are all 10 trends identified in the report.

  1. Contemporary and Colors: While white and gray remain the most popular kitchen colors, blue, green and black kitchens also made waves in 2014. Color-blocked kitchens are also gaining popularity, allowing for two separate colors to be used in the same kitchen.
  2. European-styled cabinets
  3. Double Appliances: People want easy cleanup, extra storage and the gourmet kitchen feel.
  4. Steam ovens
  5. Furniture-styled pieces
  6. Outdoor kitchens: As houses get smaller, living space is being created outdoors.
  7. Fewer standard kitchen tables: Countertops and tall gathering tables are replacing traditional kitchen tables. Islands are becoming the new kitchen table.
  8. TVs and docking stations: “About two-thirds of all kitchens now have desks or home office areas, as well as flat-screen televisions and docking/charging stations,” according to an article by Wood Working Network.
  9. Wine refrigerators
  10. User experience: Focusing on the needs of all who use the space, along with easy maintenance.
