Made in America a Key Trend at Reliable Distributors Management and Marketing Conference

Reliable Distributors kicked off its 2014 Management and Marketing Conference Thursday in Orlando, Fla., with its annual Member Meeting, where Greg Phillips, President of Harvest Supply, was introduced as Reliable Distributor’s newest member.

During the meeting, members were introduced to 23 new vendor programs implemented since the 2013 conference. Members are scheduled to meet with manufacturers representing over 100 brands of product during the next two days of appointments.

Made in America Products

The group was also introduced to new marketing programs including programs for Made in USA products as part of the 2014 conference theme, “Living in America.”

“American-made products are important to the American consumer. Big chain stores have made it difficult to locate American made products,” Reliable Distributors President Allan Meyer said. “Our goal is to differentiate our distributors and their accounts by identifying products which are Made in the USA.”

Guest Speakers

Several guest speakers addressed members at the conference.

Bob Chiesa, owner and president of Custom Benefits Insurance Group, reviewed the 2014 health insurance challenges facing the members, the Affordable Care Act mandates and alternative health care options available through the North American Retail Hardware Association.

Next, James Fox of YRC Freight reviewed the advantages of Reliable’s group program for LTL transportation.

Also, Pat Murphy of FunMobility presented promotional opportunities including the latest technology to connect with customers using mobile devices.

Presidential Awards

After the Member Meeting, Presidential Awards were presented at the Opening Reception to acknowledge members and vendors for their outstanding commitment and leadership. Member recipients included Mike Kangas of General Hardware Distributors and Dan Swanson of Prince Corporation; vendor recipients included Paul McNally of Apex Tool Group and Brooke Grothe of Irwin Industrial Tool Group.

Additionally, Jonathan Fister of Keystone Blind Association, a member of Reliable Distributors, presented a special award to Roger Hackman of Seymour Midwest for his continued support of the organization. Keystone Blind Association is a not-for-profit organization.

Reliable Distributors’ 2014 Management and Marketing Conference continues through March 29 in Orlando, Fla.
