NRHA Kicks Off Route 66 Road Trip in Oklahoma

This week, Independent We Stand is road tripping to spread awareness about independent businesses across the country and the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) is going along for the ride.

The Great American Route 66 Road Trip kicks off March 14 in Oklahoma City. Over the next five days, Independent We Stand and NRHA assistant editor Renee Changnon will be visiting many different kinds of independent businesses, including hardware and home improvement stores.

During the trip, the team will meet with local business owners and Main Street organizations to learn about their businesses and to spread the word about Independent We Stand’s “America’s Main Streets” contest, which has a $25,000 cash prize.

To follow along with NRHA, be sure to go to www.hardwareretailing.com for news from the road and look for daily adventure updates on Hardware Retailing’s Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as NRHA’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

In five days, Independent We Stand and NRHA will visit five cities in five states. The group will shop, sleep, play and eat at local businesses the entire trip.

The road trip will include stops at business in and around these cities:

  • Monday, March 14 – Day 1 – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  • Tuesday, March 15 – Day 2 – Amarillo, Texas
  • Wednesday, March 16 – Day 3 – Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Thursday, March 17 – Day 4 – Flagstaff, Arizona
  • Friday, March 18 – Day 5 – Los Angeles, California

Renee will represent NRHA when meeting a variety of retailers and will share their stories through social media and articles. She will regularly update readers on daily adventures and takeaways from the road.

“We are very excited to have NRHA join us for a second road trip, and we look forward to the stories they help us tell along the way,” says Independent We Stand co-founder Bill Brunelle. “A big part of the appeal of Route 66 is that it offered Americans a road to success, and NRHA has been doing the same for its members for over 100 years.”
