Retailer Helps Residents Show Law Enforcement Support

When a local man organized an event to show support for law enforcement, the staff at Johnsons Home & Garden in Maple Valley, Washington, was ready to help.

The resident put a strip of blue tape on his vehicle to show that he stood with local police officers, a gesture that came in the wake of recent shootings of law enforcement officers in several cities across the country.

He also set up an event for local residents, allowing them to bring their cars to be marked with blue tape. The event was held in the parking lot of Johnsons Home & Garden.

“He came in and bought the blue tape from us,” says J Johnson, owner of Johnsons Home & Garden. “He put this program together on his own, and it’s grown quickly.”

Now, Johnson and his staff are offering a 25-percent discount on blue tape to any customers who come in to purchase some to use on their cars.

“We want to help them show support for our police officers,” Johnson says. “It’s really important to us.”
