Show Employees Appreciation this Holiday Season

There are many ways to reward employees without handing out bonuses or promotions. Sometimes a heart-felt “thank you” can go a long way.

The following Inc. article provides a list of 20 techniques to reward employees without “spending a dime.” While providing flexible hours or the ability to work from home is not possible in your retail operation, there are other items on the list that could be implemented in your store. Handwritten thank you notes are an easy and meaningful way to let employees know they are appreciated.

Another way to reward employees is by giving them meaningful work. If an employee works the register every day, advance his skill set by providing him the opportunity to work on a special project, such as designing an endcap or impulse-item display. Mixing up everyday routines makes for happier and more skilled employees.
