The widely popular mobile application Uber has transformed the way people get from point A to point B. The company’s latest endeavor, UberRUSH, will provide small business owners that same technology to harness delivery services, according to the company.
This week, Uber rolled out the new delivery service for local businesses in Chicago, New York and San Francisco. UberRUSH will allow retailers to order and track deliveries, expand delivery zones and integrate with existing tools and platforms already on the market.
This service comes as more retailers are looking for ways to compete for customers through speedy delivery options. Uber joins companies testing and rolling out on-demand delivery services, like Amazon.com and Etsy, according to CNBC.
The new small business delivery platform is intended to attract businesses that may not have offered delivery in the past.
“This will give over 1,000 small businesses in New York City the chance to use Uber for same-day delivery,” Josh Mohrer, general manager for UberNYC, told CNBC. “With UberRUSH, it’s even easier for New Yorkers to patronize small businesses in their neighborhood with the push of a button.”
As the service continues to develop and potentially expand to additional markets, UberRUSH may allow independent home improvement retailers an opportunity to compete in same-day delivery with big-box retailers.
