Wallace Hardware Walks Down Memory Lane at Spring Dealer Market

In addition to the products and deals available at the Wallace Hardware Spring Dealer Market held April 11-13 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, attendees were also treated to a bit of a history lesson about the company.

To celebrate more than 50 years of Wallace Hardware shows, the Tennessee-based distributor held a special celebration at its market where guests were treated to food, fun, prize giveaways and more. Also to mark the occasion, Wallace produced a special video that debuted at the market, honoring the company’s history and the dealers it serves.

According to Richard Snowden, Wallace’s senior vice president of marketing, the shows have become an important part of the company’s business model for a number of reasons, which he listed in a special pre-market buying guide sent to dealers.

“We are in more than the hardware business,” he says. “We are in the people business. As dealers attend each market, they have their own vendors they have become accustomed to and formed ties to those representatives.”

To accompany the salute to a half-century of shows, the Wallace Spring Dealer Market also featured a host of opportunities for retailers to save big on popular merchandise. Among the savings opportunities offered throughout the show, some of the most popular were served up during the Breakfast Buy sessions on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, as well as an expanded offering during the show’s opening night where a selection of The Top 50 items were featured at deep discounts.

Market guests were also able to take advantage of training opportunities during the event including a POS training session during the Paladin Users Group meeting and a lunch and learn seminar on “Maximizing Your Merchandising,” presented by the North American Retail Hardware Association.
