Walmart Launches Online Home Shopping Experience

Walmart will launch a new online home shopping experience in the coming weeks that connects customers to products based on their unique style, Arkansas Business reports.

This new consumer experience is part of Walmart’s broader strategy to “redesign its website with a focus on fashion and home furnishings,” the article says. Walmart confirmed that the site will launch later this year.

The new e-commerce offerings will include curated collections and nine style options, including modern, traditional and bohemian, according to the article. It will also incorporate design tips that help users coordinate different products into one collection.

“With this launch, we’re making it faster, easier and more inspiring for customers to discover the best of our assortment no matter their personal style,” Anthony Soohoo, senior vice president and general manager of home for Walmart’s e-commerce division, says.

Arkansas Business says Walmart hopes this curated shopping experience will help it forge new e-commerce ground, especially as it attempts to compete against Amazon. Currently, online purchases account for just 4 percent of the retailer’s overall sales. To grow this number, the company has increased the amount of items it offers online to 75 million separate products, Arkansas Business reports.

According to the article, Walmart hopes to bolster its e-commerce business this year and foresees a 40 percent rise in online transactions.
