Less Than 2 Weeks Left to Submit Young Retailer of the Year Nominations

There are just a few days left to submit your nomination for the 2018 Young Retailer of the Year program before the Feb. 28 deadline!

Now in its 22nd year, the Young Retailer of the Year program highlights the accomplishments of the new class of hardware and home improvement leaders. From increasing sales and improving their communities to continuing their hardware and retail education, Young Retailer of the Year honorees represent the channel’s potential and promise.

Who’s eligible for the program?

Honorees should be younger than 35 years old as of Feb. 28, 2018, and work at an independent hardware or home improvement center in the U.S., its territories or Canada. Past entrants who have not been chosen as honorees are encouraged to apply again.

How do the judges choose honorees?

Above all, judges are looking for young retailers who are pushing the boundaries and challenging themselves to propel their operations and their communities forward. Judges choose Young Retailer of the Year honorees based on career milestones, continuing hardware education, community involvement and other areas in which nominees have distinguished themselves.

This year, judges are paying special attention to nominations that include videos. Take a moment to set up your smartphone and tell judges what the Young Retailer of the Year program means to you and why you should be one of 2018’s honorees.

How do honorees benefit?

Honorees gain industrywide exposure at an exclusive ceremony in Las Vegas on May 7, the evening before the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) All-Industry Conference begins. From that night on, honorees benefit from joining a network of talented, accomplished retailers from across North America. They’ll also have access to scholarship opportunities for NRHA’s Retail Management Certification Program, collaborative roundtables and much, much more.

For more information on how to submit an eye-catching nomination, Retailer Leadership Institute executive director Scott Wright has a few pointers!

The Young Retailer of the Year program has celebrated the success of more than 150 retailers since it began. Will you join their ranks this year?
