2 Resources to Help Customers With Climate Control

The North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) regularly develops tools and resources you can use to train your staff to help customers with climate control. As the cool weather comes in, more customers may come to you with questions about how to get their fireplaces ready for winter. This guide leads sales staff through common questions about how to prepare their fireplace for more regular use.

Bring It to Them
In addition to making this resource available for your staff to review, consider hosting a fireplace safety event with your local fire station. Invite customers to learn the basics of fireplace safety from local firefighters and include giveaways and raffles, such as carbon monoxide detectors and fireplace screens. Have certified fire extinguisher inspectors on-site so customers can rest assured they have safety precautions in place before they light a fire.

Another common way DIYers stay comfortable is to seal their windows and doors. This guide will help your staff become familiar with various types of caulks and sealants.

Bring It to Them
Allow customers to try different caulk guns to find the one they like best. Be sure to ask how and where the caulk will be used to recommend the right product for their project.
