The NHS Celebrity Chef Cook-Off, presented alongside BBQ Nation, is an annual cooking competition that takes place in the NHS Backyard during the National Hardware Show (NHS). NHS exhibitors appoint chefs to compete, each tasked with cooking their best slider and appetizer in just 90 minutes.
When the 90 minutes is up, each competitor must present their dishes to a panel of judges. From there, the judges will taste each piece and score each based on three categories: flavor, creativity and presentation. The competitors with the highest-rated dishes will walk away with a cash prize.
The Cook-Off will begin on Day 2 of NHS, which is Wednesday, February 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the NHS Backyard with judging commencing at 12 p.m. The winners will be named during the NHS & NHPA Awards Ceremony, beginning at 5:15 p.m. in the Backyard that evening.
NHS exhibitors in the grilling space can appoint a chef to compete in the Cook-Off at no cost. Exhibitors are responsible for bringing their own grills, smokers, food and supplies, and are welcome to adorn their participating chefs in branded apparel. Attendees will enjoy samples, and parts of the Cook-Off will be filmed and promoted post-show to the NHS community.
