5 Retailers Talk Industry Solutions

In just a few weeks, the 2023 NHPA Independents Conference will be underway in Dallas. Your peers will be there, will you? Over the course of two days, the event will champion retailer success stories, provide opportunities to share solutions for common challenges and help independent retailers expand their networks.

Presented by the North American Hardware and Paint Association (NHPA), the event will bring together retailers, regardless of type, size and affiliation, to share solutions and insights, learn from industry experts and network together.

“We are honored to be the place where the industry’s most innovative, progressive minds will come together to learn from each other and choose to excel,” says NHPA president and CEO Bob Cutter.

If you can’t be in Dallas, subscribe to the NHPA Events newsletter at YourNHPA.org/subscribe for highlights from each day of the conference. And be sure to follow NHPA on social: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for more updates.

If you’re not coming to Dallas, here’s what you’ll be missing…

Engaging with your peers

Your industry peers on stage and in the audience have experience and knowledge to share, and they want to hear from you too. The conference will bring together retailers from across the independent channel, and regardless of their affiliation, attendees will have the chance to learn from their peers and share best practices and solutions. There will also be opportunities to connect socially, making new friends in the industry and catching up with existing ones.

“The Independents Conference will be an incredible opportunity to connect with brilliant minds, exchange ideas and explore new solutions. I hope the atmosphere is filled with a spark and energy no longer present at other shows. I believe that collaboration is the best weapon in our tool belt, and this conference will be the perfect venue for it.”  —Adam Gunnett, Busy Beaver Home Improvement Centers

“I’m interested in and looking forward to building connections with my peers because that network is priceless for sharing ideas and experiences for growth within our community of home improvement centers.”  —Heather McDonnell, Manotick Home Hardware

Meeting partners who offer solutions to common industry challenges.

Throughout the conference, the Retail Solutions Hall will be home to 23 innovative service provider exhibitors who are ready to help retailers address common challenges, such as data management, inventory control, internal communications, security and more. Explore these technology and retail service exhibitors to find the tools your operation needs to excel.

Learning from industry experts and leaders

Along with keynote addresses from former executives of Amazon and Google, the conference’s panel discussions feature the industry’s leading retailers sharing how they have used technology to solve some of their toughest operational challenges. Retailers from nearly a dozen operations representing over 300 stores take the stage to talk about their challenges and provide solutions in areas such as inventory management, internal systems, customer experience and more.

“My dad and I are really looking forward to networking at the conference. It will be a great opportunity to see what everybody else is doing. It will give us a chance to learn more about what’s going on in the industry right now and what we can do to continue to grow our business.”  —Zane Watkins, Village Hardware

Celebrating high-achieving retailers

NHPA regularly recognizes retailers who are leaving their mark on the independent channel. We’ll celebrate the next generation of retail with a reception for the 2023 Young Retailer of the Year honorees at the end of Day 1. At the end of Day 2, the 2023 Top Guns Award reception, sponsored by STIHL and the National Hardware Show, recognizes three high-caliber, top-performing retailers.

“I’m looking forward to engaging with the alumni of the Top Guns program. And as a Top Guns honoree myself, I want to be an advocate for our industry and share the positive stories of what comes out of this industry. I want to continue to bring awareness to our industry and share the successes and passion for serving customers.”  —TJ Colson, Wilco Stores

“I’m seeing the next generation of hardware retailers emerging—very young, talented and smart individuals who are stepping up to lead this industry into the future. It’s a pretty exciting time to be in this industry and the independent channel.”  —Austin Diehl, Randy’s Hardware
