Ask the Right Questions in Your Yearly Business Review

While holiday sales are the driving focus for retailers as the year comes to a close, the end of the year is also a great time to examine your business and make sure it’s on the right track. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Have I accomplished the goals I set at the beginning of the year?
  • What advertising outlets worked for me?
  • Are my employees happy?
  • How can I merchandise more effectively?
  • Are there any repairs or maintenance needed to be done to my store?
  • Have I stuck to my budget?
  • Have my sales increased or decreased?
  • What do I want to accomplish in 2014?

These questions will get you thinking about things you will want to change for next year and things you were successful at and want to continue. Ask your employees these same questions and hear what they have to say. Having a few other opinions can help you get a well-rounded view of your store.
