Employees’ Passions Guide Round-Up Fundraisers

When Karsten’s Maricopa Ace Hardware in Maricopa, Arizona, hosts round-up fundraisers, it turns to its employees to choose what organizations will benefit from the money raised. Store manager Chris Grover says the store will host several round-up fundraisers throughout the year where customers can opt to round up their purchases and the money raised goes to a local cause.

He utilizes the store’s employees’ ideas for local charities they feel support the Maricopa community and could benefit from the money raised.

“Many of our round-up charities have volunteers who are also our local customers, so the conversations about supporting those groups starts from them shopping and being asked to round up their change,” Grover says.

Recently, the round-up raised over $2,200 that went to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Citizens on Patrol.
“As far as the Sheriff’s posse, I spoke with one of the posse members and found out they needed help with supplies,” Grover says. “I provided them with the paperwork, and the rest is history.”
