Nominations are open for the North American Retail Hardware Association’s (NRHA) 2020 Young Retailer of the Year program. Now in its 24th year, the program identifies young leaders who represent the future of the independent home improvement industry.
Why Nominate?
The Young Retailer of the Year program is the premier award in the industry honoring the next generation of independent home improvement retailers. Honorees benefit from exposure for themselves and their businesses, and they build a network with like-minded retailers in their generation. Honorees also have the opportunity to participate in additional programming and scholarships through NRHA. Read about last year’s honorees here.
How Does It Work?
The deadline to submit nominations is Feb. 28, 2020. Entries are scored based on certain nomination criteria, including contributions to operational growth; community involvement; engagement in industry education; and industry and organizational innovation.
Honorees are selected from three categories: stores with less than $2 million in sales; stores with more than $2 million in sales; and multiple-store operations. Honorees are invited to accept their awards at a ceremony on May 4, 2020, the evening before the National Hardware Show, in Las Vegas.
Judging Criteria
Young Retailer of the Year nominees should be 35 years old or younger as of Feb. 28, 2020. They must work at independent hardware stores, home centers or lumberyards in the U.S., its territories or in Canada. Past entrants who were not chosen as previous honorees are invited to submit new applications.
