Friedman’s Home Improvement Names New CEO

Friedman’s Home Improvement, one of the largest locally owned home improvement stores in California, announced it is appointing Barry Friedman as its new CEO and president.

The announcement is the result of a long-term succession planning process led by Chairman Bill Friedman and the company’s board of directors.

Barry Friedman, 34, who has climbed the company’s ranks for 10 years, most recently as vice president of operations, will take over as CEO effective immediately. Barry represents the third-generation of Friedman’s to run the family business.

“Our company is strongly positioned operationally and financially. With the talented and passionate team we have in place today, this is an ideal time to complete our planned succession,” Chairman Bill Friedman said. “Having worked side-by-side with Barry over the past 10 years, I know that we are aligned on Friedman’s business strategies and priorities, and the board and I have great confidence in his ability to lead our team forward.”

Barry Friedman said he’s been preparing to grow into the position for many years.

“With the Petaluma store opening in early 2014, Friedman’s will continue to surge ahead by building on our existing strengths, growing our team and providing exceptional service to our loyal customers throughout Sonoma and Mendocino counties,” he said.

Bill Friedman, named as one of NRHA and Hardware Retailing magazine’s Industry Top Guns in 2010, will remain chairman of the board, continuing to focus on the long-term strategic vision of Friedman’s Home Improvement and overseeing the board of directors.
