The Stats Say, ‘Get Social’

Social media is now part of every aspect of many people’s lives.

In fact, more than half of all adults use more than one social media platform, according to Pew Research Center.

To keep up with consumers’ engagement with social media, more than 90 percent of the top 50 retail brands are using two or more social networks, according to Yesmail, an email marketing software provider.

Below are the top retail brands identified by Yesmail broken out by category (beauty, apparel, big box, electronics and home goods) and the different social media platforms they use, in order of adoption.

Be sure to get to know the popular platforms for promoting clothing, home goods, the big boxes and even electronics.

Applied to Retail: People are now using Facebook to watch videos and RSVP to events, Twitter to stay up-to-date with worldwide news, Instagram to find new travel destinations or restaurants, Pinterest for new recipes or DYI projects and even Snapchat to see what is happening in another part of the world. All of the different social media platforms offer a wide variety of ways to captivate and engage your audience.

Use Facebook to promote upcoming events. Your Facebook followers can RSVP through the event page and get excited about different happenings at your store.

Consider using Instagram for posting photos of new products, endcaps or fun displays in your store. If you are hosting an event, then post pictures before, during and afterward to draw in customers and share the fun your store offers.
