HDW Houston Distribution Center Dry After Hurricane Harvey Makes Landfall

On Friday, Aug. 25, Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the Gulf Coast near Corpus Christi, Texas, according to The New York Times. The storm has since weakened to a tropical storm, but weather forecasters are predicting more than 50 inches of rain in total will fall on southeastern Texas over the next several days, reports the Times.

Kenny Beauvais, president and CEO of Hardware Distribution Warehouses (HDW), released the following statement on the company’s Houston distribution center.

“Our Houston distribution center has not received any damage from Hurricane Harvey currently. However, as the storm continues to remain in the area, flood waters continue to rise. For the safety of our employees in the Houston area, we have closed the Houston DC for today, Monday, Aug. 28. At this point in time, we are glad to report that all Houston employees and their families are safe—however, several have lost their homes and suffered property loss.

HDW’s other distribution centers located in Greenwood, Mississippi, and Shreveport, Louisiana, will begin shipping orders to Houston legacy dealers immediately. There will be no interruption of service to HDW dealers. If highways are open, our trucks can reach these stores and we will do so.”

Hardware Distribution Warehouses Inc. is an employee-owned company and provides over 2000 independent hardware and lumberyards a complete source for retail products in nine states. HDW is a member/owner of Distribution America, the nation’s largest network of independent hardware and paint sundries wholesale distributors.
