Hit the Road With Renee: NRHA to Visit New England Operations

When you travel, do you have the itch to check out independent home improvement stores? There are many things to can gain from exploring the independent home improvement operations scattered across the country. While friends or family might not always understand the need to visit other independent stores, the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) does!

Your association makes it a priority to visit as many independent hardware, home center and lumberyards as possible to see how operators across the country are succeeding. The purpose of visiting stores is to help you learn new ideas and insights from other retailers across the country. Plus, you may find a few more stores to add to your must-see list when you travel as well.

My name is Renee Changnon and I’m the retail outreach coordinator with NRHA. This week, I’ll be embarking on NRHA’s New England Road Trip, our first trip focused exclusively on the independent home improvement channel. It will take me over 1,300 miles to visit stores all over New England, including: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. During the week, I’ll make stops at a variety of lumberyards, hardware stores and home centers and update readers regularly on what I discover.

We’ll feature this trip and the stores visited in a future issue of the magazine. However, make sure to like and follow NRHA on Instagram and Facebook for frequent updates.

For a recap of each stop, check Hardware Retailing for daily posts from the road! In November, Hardware Retailing will feature an in-depth look at the trip and highlight the ways New England-area retailers are finding new paths to success. Subscribe today to ensure you don’t miss a word!
