Home Hardware Stores Limited was recently named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the second year in a row. Having initially received the designation in 2012, the company successfully re-qualified and retained its status for 2013.
The designation comes as Home Hardware celebrates its 50th anniversary as a Canadian-owned and Canadian-operated business this year.
The Canada’s Best Managed Companies designation recognizes private Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways. An independent judging panel that evaluates how companies address various business challenges, including new technologies, brand management and leadership, reviews applications.
“We are honored to be redesignated as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. This designation reflects the core values upon which Home Hardware was founded—value, service and dependability—values that have enabled our dedicated dealer-owners to become an integral part of life in every Canadian province and territory,” said Paul Straus, President and CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited.
Since 1964, Home Hardware has grown from 122 independent hardware dealers-owners, to a family that now includes close to 1,100 stores, over 20,000 employees across Canada and more than $5.4 billion in annual retail sales.
Winners were awarded with the designation of Canada’s Best Managed Companies at the annual gala and symposium on April 1st.
