Indie Award Quarterfinalists Include 3 Hardware Stores

Two independent hardware stores are among the 25 quarterfinalists for the 2019 Indie Award, a contest from Independent We Stand that allows people to vote for their favorite small business to earn the title of Independent Small Business of the Year.

Now in its ninth year, the contest will end with the winner receiving a branding, advertising and public relations makeover valued at $25,000, in addition to other prizes. All quarterfinalists receive an Independent We Stand Premium Membership for life. Voting for this round goes from Oct. 28 through Nov. 17, and for the first time, the winner will be announced before Small Business Saturday, an annual shopping holiday encouraging consumer support of small businesses, on Nov. 25.

McCoy True Value in Indianola, Iowa, Taylorsville Hardware in Taylorsville, Kentucky, and Dunham’s Department Store in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, (which operates a full department store inside) are three of the quarterfinalists. For the complete list of quarterfinalists, click here.
