Internet Use Is Always Growing; Capitalize on It

Consumers are connecting to the Internet in any way they can – via laptops, PCs, cellphones, tablets, televisions, sound systems and even home appliances such as refrigerators.

Below is data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Computer and Internet Use in the United States: 2013, which is the agency’s most recent report of this kind. The data was collected in supplements to the Current Population Survey, a recurring survey commissioned jointly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau. This data shows that Internet use is continuously on the rise, fueling demand for more gadgets and gizmos that interconnect online.

Applied to Retail:

Consider all of the different cords, connectors, adapters and other accessories consumers need to operate the devices they use to surf the Net. These small products are great high-margin items for you to sell and are perfect for those customers who forgot their chargers for the day, need an extra cable or are completing a home improvement project that integrates technology.

In the October issue of Hardware Retailing magazine, retailers who sell home electronics items, such as cellphone accessories, share how they got started in the niche and how they have made it successful.
