Lowe’s Uses Facebook 360 for New DIY Videos

Lowe’s is taking its social media presence to a new level with a fresh tool: Facebook 360.

At the end of July, the home improvement giant launched a Facebook video campaign titled “Made in a Minute.”

Through the new Facebook 360-degree video feature, Lowe’s is providing step-by-step instructions for do-it-yourself projects, according to AdWeek.

Facebook defines Facebook 360 as a video “created with a camera system that simultaneously records all 360 degrees of a scene.” Viewers can rotate a 360 video to watch it from different angles on computers and iOS and Android devices.

“Unlike most Facebook 360 videos, which are shot with a 360 camera, Made in a Minute consists of eight individual frames stitched together to show one person completing each step of the project,” Brad Walters, director of social media and content for Lowe’s, told AdWeek. “Each step plays like a looping GIF, allowing the viewer to see the individual step as many times as they’d like.”

Lowe’s has launched two “Made in a Minute” videos on its Facebook page so far. AdWeek reports that the company is using paid advertising to increase viewership.
