NHPA Announces 2 New Advanced Training Scholarships From Sakrete

As part of its “Building a New Foundation” program, the North American Hardware and Paint Association (NHPA) has announced a partnership with Sakrete that includes two new scholarships for students enrolling in the association’s Retail Management Certification Program (RMCP).

RMCP is a college-level course designed to teach key employees, future owners and retailers effective business practices for owning and operating a home improvement operation. Sessions are taught by successful retailers, university professors and industry experts. Students attend the program in Indianapolis, which includes  three visits across six months, for classroom sessions focused on advanced retail operations, business strategy, human resources, marketing and more. In addition, students plan and initiate a business improvement project that is specific to their role and core operation. The average return on investment per student is five times the cost of tuition.

“RMCP is a key program for retailers who are looking to develop their bench of next-generation leaders with industry-specific, actionable education. Students return to their operations after each session with insights and best practices from industry experts and fellow retailers that they can immediately apply to their own business,” says NHPA executive director of advanced retail education Scott Wright. “With these two new scholarships made available from Sakrete, more retailers will have access to this program.”

Investing in retail education is a core component of Sakrete’s mission, says Sakrete national account manager Brett Polachek.

“The Sakrete business, at its core, is all about helping our partners succeed—and we believe that knowledge is at the heart of that success,” Polachek says. “When our dealers know more about the products they stock, they’re empowered to sell more effectively—which benefits everyone. Bottom lines grow. Partnerships grow stronger. Customers walk away happier. It’s a win-win-win. Partnering with the North American Hardware and Paint Association to support scholarships for the Retail Management Certification Program fits in perfectly with that overall ethos, and we’re excited to help the next generation of hardware pros realize their full potential.”

The deadline to apply for the next session of RMCP is June 1. Click here to read more about the program and to apply, or contact Scott Wright at swright@YourNHPA.org.
