Nominations for America’s Main Street Contest Now Open

Communities across the country are vying for the fifth annual America’s Main Streets contest, presented by shop-local organization Independent We Stand.

The three-month long online contest helps small business owners, Main Street organizations and consumers reward a deserving Main Street with sponsored prizes, including a cash prize of $25,000. Other prizes include shopping sprees, public relations and social media recognition, gift certificates for equipment and a plaque for the winner to display.

“Independent We Stand wants to help locally owned businesses not just survive, but thrive in their communities,” says Independent We Stand co-founder Bill Brunelle. “We recognize the pride business owners take in their Main Streets, and we want to help share those stories through our contest.”

Nominations and quarterfinalist voting take place on MainStreetContest.com from Feb. 24-April 19. Semifinalist voting takes place from Apr. 27-May 24.

Independent We Stand invites the public to participate by nominating and voting for their favorite Main Street to draw attention to the vital role America’s Main Streets play in the long-term success of communities. Main Street Wellington in Ohio was the 2019 winner.

The American’s Main Streets contest is sponsored by STIHL, Do it Best Corp., Flip This Town, Nationwide Marketing Group, North American Retail Hardware Association, Paint & Decorating Retailers Association and PPG Paints.

Independent We Stand is a nationwide movement of independent small business owners whose mission is to inspire other small business owners to better understand and celebrate their locally owned status while educating consumers about the importance and strong economic benefits of supporting them.
