Online retail revenue is projected to reach $500 billion by 2018, with online buyers growing by 15 percent within the next 4 years. Another key consumer base to look at is the online shopper, which according to Forbes, is anyone who “has browsed products, compared prices or purchased merchandise at least once.” This segment comprised 172 million shoppers in 2010 and is anticipated to reach 200 million in 2015.
Statista and Forbes created an infographic examining internet shopping among different retail outlets. Amazon led the pack during the first quarter of 2014 followed by eBay and Apple. The infographic also analyzes the digital platforms in which customers are shopping on, and 91 percent of shoppers are still using a desktop to shop for home and garden products, with mobile coming in last.
