See Your Store Through Your Customers’ Eyes

Pack your bags! There will be plenty for home improvement retailers to see in Chicago this summer, including several premiere co-located events.

In August, the first-ever Independent Home Improvement Show—Powered by NHS, the 2019 NRHA STIHL Foundations of Leadership Conference and the 2019 State of Independents Midyear Review, hosted by the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA), will all be co-located during this year’s Independent Garden Center show, which will be held Aug. 13-15 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

One opportunity for retailers in attendance will be to see through their customers’ eyes, with the help of the latest eye-tracking science from one of the keynote speakers at IGC.

During her keynote address at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, Dr. Bridget Behe, a professor of Horticultural Marketing at Michigan State University, will explain how customers, from the moment they drive into a center and later walk out with purchases, are very selective about what they look at (and don’t look at) and how they move through a store. Based on her research, Behe will show retailers how they can capitalize on the science by using store signage and large displays to guide customers and positively impact their buying decisions. Dr. Behe’s address is just one of the highlights of the all-new Independent Home Improvement Show, launching this year to help connect independent home improvement retailers with leading manufacturers and industry experts.
