Selling Cold-Weather Essentials

Staying warm and being prepared for winter weather are top-of-mind for your customers as the season approaches.

Encourage your customers to buy the basics early by promoting them near the front of the store with snow removal-themed endcaps stocked with smaller items like ice scrapers, ice melt, shovels and more. You’ll also want to place larger items (snow blowers, generators, space heaters, etc.) in power aisles where customers can’t miss them.

In addition to stocking early, it’s important to remind customers to be prepared for bad weather. Communicate with your customers about being prepared for the end of the year through advertising.

For example, you might consider running a circular or insert that reminds consumers about all the winter-related items they might need. Even consider hosting seminars on topics such as preparing outdoor power equipment for storage or sealing air leaks in your home.
