Smart Home Adoption to Increase

Smart home devices are making their way in to homes across the country. According to a recent study by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), “20 percent of households with broadband intend to acquire one or more smart home devices within the next year.” This early adoption will be led by the younger generation, as half of those that already own a smart home device are under the age of 35.

While technological devices are stereotyped as consuming peoples’ time and taking them away from their family, “More than half of smart home device owners say they want to use technology as a way to create more time with their family,” says Steve Koenig.

By the end of 2014, smart home device sales will reach 20.7 million units, growing to 35.9 million units by 2017.
