Trends in Green Building

Contractors are continuing to integrate greener and more sustainable building materials and products into their building projects, striving to meet consumers’ demand for highly efficient, healthy homes.

The data provided below comes from Green and Healthier Homes, a report by Dodge Data & Analytics, created in partnership with the National Association of Home Builders. The report shares data from surveys of homebuilders and remodelers on multiple aspects of green building, such as cost and the different projects green builders are pursuing.

“One factor driving the growth of green in the residential sector is the association of green homes with healthier homes,” the report says. “Most (83 percent) of homebuilders and remodelers believe consumers are willing to pay more for a healthier home,” with a majority of consumers willing to pay 1 to 4 percent more.
