True Value Executive Dies at Age 51

02-25-15-LarsHybelLars Hybel, international vice president of True Value Company, recently died at age 51.

The entire True Value team is saddened by the tragic and unexpected loss, according to John Hartmann, president and CEO.

“While only with True Value for just under a year, Lars quickly became a driving force for our international business, gaining both our associates’ and international members’ confidence,” Hartmann says. “Likewise, he quickly became a good friend and colleague. We will all miss him more than words can express.”

Hybel came to True Value Company with career experience leading multinational and global teams. Prior to joining the co-op, he spent 15 years at Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems.

Hybel, who was a resident of Palatine, Illinois, died Sept. 27. He is survived by his wife Carla and daughter Amelia. Read Hybel’s obituary for more information about his life.

Chicago-based True Value is a retailer-owned hardware cooperative representing independent stores in more than 60 countries, with retail sales totaling about $5.5 billion.
